Give Thanks In Everything

Last weekend Hannah started saying a new word.  We all know that most children love saying NO, which Hannah can say oh, too well, but  now she is fascinated with YES.

My husband was driving and all of a sudden we heard this little voice from behind, yell, YES.  We both looked at each other with excitement in our eyes.  I felt so happy within, I could burst.  Hannah said, YES and we would repeat after her.  She kept saying YES and the more she said it the more my heart got full.

Sidenote:  Why do I get so happy about my daughter saying words?  Well, children with Trisomy 21 (Down Syndrome) usually have a speech delay and whenever Hannah says a new word I get full of joy.  Learning to speak is no easy task for any child, but it is even harder for children with Trisomy 21.

My heart is full of joy and thankfulness.  It is these little moments that allow me to see that God is in control.  We don't control anything.  No matter how hard we try to push our children to do things when we want them to, disability or no disability, things are not in our hands and we are not in control. God is in control of everything and I am thankful for that.

Thought for today.

Give thanks in everything
No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. I Thessalonians 5:18 NLT
Blessings,

Evelyn

I'm so grateful that you've shared this post. You have every reason to be joyful - and there is something powerful about the word "Yes" (Have you ever watched the move "Yes, Man") There is some serious energy in that word and the fact that she chose that one could be reflective of the positive environment you've created for her. Be blessed - I'm always glad to see that you've continued to nurture this blog.

That's so exciting! Good job, Hannah! I feel the same sense of bursting pride when Gwyneth tries to say a new word or some baby sign language. It's wonderful for parents to feel the connection of communication with our children. :)

What a beautiful little angel and blog. Didn't know you had this little corner of the blogosphere dedicated to little Hannah. All the best to you and your family :)
